OXITEC® 5000
Durable oxygen analyzers for precise and rapid process control. The OXITEC 5000 oxygen analyzer was developed by ENOTEC and is manufactured entirely in Germany.
Regarding the OXITEC 5000|
ENOTEC products offer a wide range of applications in various incineration plants, as they can be used in flue gas temperatures of up to 1400°C, with high dust loads and in corrosive or reducing exhaust gases.
The spectrum ranges from coal and gas-fired power plants to waste incineration plants, shipbuilding, refineries and crematoria, cement and steel plants and the chemical industry. In other words, wherever combustion needs to be controlled efficiently, quickly and precisely.
Our promise:
We at ENOTEC will find a solution for every application, whether customised or from series production. Our customers benefit from our experienced staff and our globally active and well-versed sales and service team.
Around the clock and all over the world.
This application note describes the need to measure oxygen in the exhaust gas of an auxiliary boiler on large container or cruise ships. On the one hand, this serves to better control and regulate the fuel-air ratio, but also helps to keep emissions within the legal limits.
For example, the EU wants to reduce CO2 emissions from ships by at least 40 %. The measurement is also intended to help quickly bring the combustion to an optimum operating state when changing fuel (from heavy fuel oil to marine diesel) in the 3-mile zone and in port in order to minimise both emissions and fuel.
On every ocean-going vessel there is at least one auxiliary boiler that generates process heat as soon as the main engine is switched off. This auxiliary boiler is responsible for the heat supply and also serves to preheat fuel for heavy fuel oil.
The auxiliary boiler is also used when the ship is in port or in emission-controlled regions where only light oil may be used as fuel, not heavy oil. The auxiliary boiler can be operated optimally with both fuels (dual fuel) if the OXITEC-O2 measured value is used for fuel-air correction.
If fluctuations in calorific value are to be expected, an accurate and fast O2 signal is required to readjust the fuel-air ratio. For this purpose, the signal from an OXITEC 5000 in-situ measurement, which is installed directly downstream of the boiler in the flue gas, can be transmitted to the boiler control system to make corrections if the measurement is reliable.
In this way, maximum performance can be achieved with minimum emissions and fuel costs.
